The Perry #30 Elastic Pen is a pinched-center nib, in which the pinch terminates at the unusual tumbler-shaped vent hole. Robert Hurford, writing for [https://www.iampeth.com/lesson/getting-started/look-fine-flexible-nibs IMAPETH], praises the extra fine point with the long tines that can be used "to render an incredibly thick shade." He also points out that the Perry's #30 Extra Fine Elastic Pen drew at least one significant imitation--produced by Brause and also named the #30EF Elastic Pen.
The Perry #30 EF Pen is a falcon-shaped nib with a classic spindle vent hole, featuring an embossing of the Montgolfier hot air balloon. It appears that many pen manufacturers released nibs with nearly-identical embossings celebrating Montgolfier, including Gilbert & Blanzy-Poure, John Mitchell, Hinks-Wells and several others. While it is easy to find examples of the other Montgolfier embossed nibs, the Perry #30 seems to be somewhat rare. One example is found on [https://kallipos.de/perry-und-co.html Kallipos].

Although the nib itself shows no imprint to identify it as the Elastic Pen, an original box for the Perry #30 (see [https://shop.kallipos.de/en/perry-co-ltd-no-30-extra-fine Kallipos]), clearly identifies the nib's Elastic Pen name.

Contemporary advertising ([https://www.ebay.com/i/283452423794 eBay]) described the Perry #30 Elastic Pen as "a very fine, medium flex, and Smooth nib."  A Perry sample card (see [https://i.pinimg.com/736x/88/9a/af/889aaf5e9ec72a6e8f1c3b6157280e49.jpg Hadi Vaezian Pinterest photos]) included a sample of the Perry #30 among 20 samples.
The nib has an interior imprint, which seems unusual for any sort of "commemorative" embossing--since the interior marking is not normally visible when the pen is in use. You would only see it when the nib is being changed.

One example is found on Kallipos.

The nib has an interior imprint, which seems unusual for any sort of "commemorative" embossing--since the interior marking is not normally visible when the pen is in use. You would only see it when the nib is being changed.

AAAndrew's Steel Pen blog says that "James Perry and Josiah Mason were among the the foundational innovators and inventors who took the craft of making pen nibs and turned it into an industry." Perry began by making his own nibs by hand, then partnering with Mason, who would manufacture the Perryan-branded nib for decades. Mason’s factory in Birmingham (London) eventually became the largest pen factory in the world, and in 1876 Mason and Perry's companies would merge, with Wiley & Sons, to create the new Perry & Co. (Grace's Guide) After the decline of dip pens, British Pens acquired the pen businesses of Perry & Co and other nib manufacturers like John Mitchell and Joseph Gillott's (1961). The Perry brand is no longer active.
