Described in contemporary advertising (1938 Esterbrook Catalog) as: "Extra firm, fine, oval point. Smooth and durable. Gray finish."
The Esterbrook Project describes this nib as "a pinched waist, spoon-headed pen. A sharp, turned-up tip. A large baseball bat vent hole. Gray finish."
Brandon McKinney's analysis of the markings and grindings date this version of the #787 Oval Point Pen as 1940-1946.
Versions
There are no additional versions of the Esterbrook #787 Oval Point Pen in the Chappy's Nibs collection, as pictured below (brass-finish).
