Described in contemporary advertising (1938 Esterbrook Catalog) as: "Medium size, fine pen with extra flexible action. Bronze finish."
The Esterbrook Project describes this nib as the fifth and last in the "Art & Drafting" series. A straight body with a fine, sharp point. Rectangular vent hole. Embossed roll across waist. Fine, flexible, Bronze finish.
Nikola Pang writes about the 331: Produced in the Golden Age of Esterbrook, the Esterbrook 331 Art and Drawing pen is one of most popular vintage dip pen nibs for copperplate calligraphy and pointed pen work. The 331 is a soft, flexible nib with fine hairlines and medium (average) shading. This pen point provides good variation and control.
